Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another’s skin, another’s voice, another’s soul.

Quarantine opened up SO much time for reading and I took full advantage of it. I recently started an Instagram page just for my reading reviews, book recommendations, and whatever else book related I could think of. I needed to let me creativity loose and, since I couldn’t travel, I decided to channel my creativity towards books.
Even though I can travel now, reading is still one of my favorite ways to travel without having to move off my couch. Below I’m taking you on a very different journey that I hope you love. These are just a few of the bookish pictures I’ve taken over the past few months. Hopefully they get rid of the Sunday Scaries for you and give you some reading inspiration.
I started small with books I’ve read before and loved.

Then I collaborated with a former coworker who is extremely talented. She brought my vision to life!

I have no shelf control and I’m not mad about it. Reading is the best thing since sliced bread. Just kidding, reading has always been ink-credible since the day it was invented. Books let your imagination run wild and give you a healthy escape from reality into other worlds, dimensions, and times. This print was conceptualized by yours truly and brought to life by a dear friend with her design talents. It measures approximately 8×10 inches and is available for digital download in PDF format.

Then I challenged myself to stack books to almost my height. So many books fell in the process but it was a great time.
Then I got my pets involved and nailed the timing on a few shots.
Things started to open up just a bit, so I made cookies to celebrate and made sure books were involved.

Then I wanted to challenge myself a bit more and it was Valentine’s Day so I created these.
Then the library opened up a little more and I could grab MORE books
Warmer weather started to roll around and I got to dig into my book subscriptions from Book of the Month and The Book Drop
Then I wanted to experiment with different shapes I could make from books. Some looked better than others and I spent HOURS bringing books back and forth from inside, but they were all so much fun to make.
I reenacted some scenes from the books to give my reviews more sassiness and fun.
I made some memes and book lover can relate to.
Then I went full HELL YEAH with my book creations and let my imagination run wild.
I also had a lot of fun making books look pretty. Everyone deserves a little pampering now and then.
We FINALLY got to travel again and I had so much fun reading on vacation and exploring local bookstores wherever I went.
I got discount book in the mail and got ridiculously excited that something other than bills arrived in my mailbox.
I challenged myself to diversify my reading and spent a lot of time making more meaningful choices in addition to reading books just for the fun of it. My reading buddy was there every step of the way.
I participated in book challenges and put my own flair on each of them.
Now it’s the end of the first half of 2021 and I’ve read 65 books so far. I made a giant mountain out of 65 books and I can’t wait to read even more this year. Here’s to the second half of 2021 being even better for traveling and reading!
I’ve got your recommendation, The Lost Apothecary, on reserve at the library. I’m, like 85th in line. 🙂
