Longwood Gardens: A Photo Story

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow

Today Will and I took a mini road trip to visit Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden an hour away from our house. We’d heard SO much about the gardens and exhibits and kept having to put off our visit because of the weather and lack of free time. We finally had our schedules and the weather cooperate and managed to book our tickets a few days in advance. We set off this morning and enjoyed a great day walking around, exploring, taking pictures, and having a really fun day out.

Longwood Gardens is located in Kennett Square, PA, which is about 30 minutes from Philadelphia. There are flower gardens, sculpture gardens, an area dedicated to fountains and water shows, and a conservatory which is basically a gigantic greenhouse with tons of species of plants. This isn’t your average garden. From forest paths to paved walkways to climbing treehouses, Longwood Gardens is a fantastic adventure for anyone who loves spending time in nature. We didn’t stay for the fireworks and fountains show, but I would highly recommend it from hearing about it from friends.

These are just a few of the photos I took today, I hope you enjoy!

I realized I have no idea what most of these flowers are called, except the dahlia. Forgive me for not remembering!

  1. Emma,
Your floral photographs (framed on my walls), and the notecards; grow even more beautiful and enjoyed, with the passing of years. Every time I look at them, the joy is at least as strong as the first time. Are you still selling them? You share so very much beauty and enjoyment.
